Workspaces
A Workspace is the primary organizational boundary in Karyam.
Everything you build inside Karyam belongs to a Workspace.
This includes:
- Agents
- AI Flows
- Skills
- Models
- MCP Servers
- Files
- Vector Databases
- Runs
- Categories
- Approvals
Think of a Workspace as an isolated environment for a team, project, department, or business unit.
Why Workspaces Exist
Section titled “Why Workspaces Exist”Organizations rarely operate a single AI system.
Different teams often require:
- Separate models
- Different permissions
- Isolated knowledge sources
- Independent workflows
- Dedicated AI infrastructure
Workspaces provide this separation while allowing teams to operate independently.
Common Workspace Strategies
Section titled “Common Workspace Strategies”Organizations typically structure workspaces around:

General Information
Section titled “General Information”Workspace Name
Section titled “Workspace Name”The display name used throughout the platform.
Example:
IT OperationsDescription
Section titled “Description”An optional description explaining the purpose of the workspace.
Example:
Internal IT automation and support systems.Timezone
Section titled “Timezone”The workspace timezone determines how time-based information is displayed and executed throughout the platform.
Examples include:
- Scheduled workflows
- Listener schedules
- Approval timestamps
- Run history
- Dashboard metrics
Example:
Asia/KolkataDefault Workspace
Section titled “Default Workspace”A workspace can be marked as the default workspace for a user.
When enabled:
- Karyam automatically opens this workspace on login.
- New sessions start inside the selected workspace.
- Workspace switching becomes faster for frequently used environments.
Workspace Isolation
Section titled “Workspace Isolation”Resources are isolated at the workspace level.
For example:
| Resource | Scope |
|---|---|
| Agents | Workspace |
| AI Flows | Workspace |
| Models | Workspace |
| Files | Workspace |
| Vector Databases | Workspace |
| Runs | Workspace |
Resources from one workspace are not automatically visible to another workspace.
Relationship to Other Concepts

The Karyam Philosophy
Section titled “The Karyam Philosophy”AI systems become difficult to manage when everything exists in a single shared environment.
Workspaces provide the structure needed to scale AI safely across teams, departments, and organizations.
